Gas recovery

Equipment for filling insulating gas in a controlled manner. The equipment is coupled between objects to be filled and a gas bottle.

SF6 gas

Sulfur hexafluoride - SF6 is an industrially produced gas with excellent dielectric and arc quenching properties. The gas is mainly used as insulation and breaking medium in e.g. switchgear, transformers and switches for high and medium voltage. SF6-filled electronic equipment are closed systems that provide no direct emissions.

SF6 gas is a strong greenhouse gas and must be handled in accordance with international agreements, regulations and directives. When properly handled and with the right equipment, emissions that reach the atmosphere are prevented.

When maintaining SF6-filled equipment, gas recovery equipment is used to pump over the gas to an external storage tank / gas bottle. Used gas can be recycled, cleaned, purified and reused in principle any number of times.

Alternative insulation gases

With new requirements and regulations regarding the use of SF6 gas, the requirement for more environmentally friendly solutions is increasing. New technologies with alternative gas are being developed today. The new gas mixtures are already used in the field.

The goal is to phase out the use of F-gases (including SF6) to smaller greenhouse-based alternative gases, with lower GWP index (Global Warming Potential) and low ODP index (Ozone Depletion Potential).

Alternative gas handling is done with standard SF6 equipment or specially adapted equipment, depending on which alternative gas is handled.
